The Philippines has always been known for the way it celebrates Christmas. Not only do we embrace the holiday season from September until sometime in January the following year, we celebrate it with a festive mood — in bright colors, sparkling lights, joyous tunes, and delectable food. Underneath all that glitters is the essence of Christmas which remains rooted in the heart of every Filipino making Christmas in the Philippines is more than just its length and grandeur, but more of spreading the message of joy, love, and hope.
This has always been evident in the way Bluewater Resort Panglao welcomes the holiday season and this year is no exception. With their annual Christmas Tree Lighting Event and Benefit Dinner dubbed as Pasko sa Bluewater, the resort lit up in full Christmas spirit last November 25 for all the right reasons.
The giant Christmas tree at the Aplaya Restaurant sparkled after a ceremonial lighting led by Bluewater Panglao’s Resort Manager Weng Jose, Ms. Dedet dela Fuente of Lechon Degustacion at Pepita’s Kitchen and who is fondly called the Lechon Diva, and DOT VII Regional Director Joshur Judd Lanete II.
For this year’s benefit dinner, guests were treated to a palatable spread conceptualized under the wing of Ms. Dedet dela Fuente. Everyone had a good fill of sumptuous food creations that included Sipit sa Sarap, Hiplog, and Truffle Rice Lechon, which the Lechon Diva herself recommended members of the Bohol Bloggers to taste. Performances from Jam403 Acoustic Band, Holy Name University’s Himig Diwa Chorale, and Lumad Panglaoanon Cultural Troupe amplified the spirit of merriment during the entire proceeding.
A portion of the proceeds from the benefit dinner will go to eight different charities and beneficiaries from Bohol and Cebu as part of the resorts’ 12 Days of Christmas Project. This is Bluewater’s way of giving back to the community for the successful business it was able to keep over the course of the year.
Christmas is definitely here and Bluewater Resort Panglao illuminates in the spirit of the Yuletide Season, not only because of its twinkling Christmas tree or gorgeous lanterns but because of the purpose why the resort always welcomes the merriest time of the year. And for the beneficiaries, it will be a Merry Christmas indeed!
